Fans slam Dappy for 'offensive Downs Syndrome tweet'

Outspoken rapper Dappy has landed himself in hot water with charity officials after trying to insult one of his followers with an “innappropriate and offensive” tweet including a reference about Downs syndrome.

The N-Dubz star has been in trouble with his cousin recently for his unruly behaviour which included an appearance in court on affray charges after an alleged petrol station fight. However this time it seems that a Twitter user was trying to provoke the star, which led to Dappy lashing out as he tweeted,

‘Ur a d**khead in your HOOD you've never BEEN KNOWN...I'll get your Face F***ed DOWN SYNDROME.’

It’s no surprise that shortly after his outburst the tweet was swiftly deleted, but the repurcussions are evident across Twitter with criticsm being attracted by both users and charities. Charity
Information Officer of the Down's Heart Group Sarah Smith says,

"People with Down's syndrome have such a lot to offer…There will be a lot of Dappy's fans who have Down's syndrome who will not be happy he used that term as a form of abuse."

Dappy also caused upset after his music video Tarzan Part 2 featured a reference to a man convicted of killing headteacher Philip Lawrence. The reference also happened to concern his cousin Toulisa Contostavlos who blasted that the singer “lost his mind” and even called him a
“little shit”.
