It’s been a tough few weeks for the Cruises; a divorce is tough enough as it is without the whole world and one massive strange religion watching you. So it’s no wonder Katie Holmes decided to cheer daughter Suri Cruise up with a trip to the zoo.
Although Katie and Suri spend a lot of time together usually, the trip to Central Park Zoo in New York probably had a sadder note to it and judging by the look on the six-year-old’s face, we’d say Suri is at least partly aware not everything is as she’s used to.

Suri Cruise is consistently pictured hanging out with mum Katie and this time mother and daughter chose Central Park to pet animals. As the pair get used to life as a twosome (Katie has sole custody of Suri, with generous visiting rights for Tom Cruise) they’ve been seen out and about in in NYC in the last few weeks, hitting up the trendy East Village for ice cream and the Children's Museum of Arts.
It is thought Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise's divorce settlement will have Suri attend a private Manhattan school and Katie has allegedly joined a LGBT-inclusive (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender") Catholic church in Chelsea.
As we reported on Monday the pair told Us Weekly they “respected” each other’s “respective beliefs”. Tom, 50, and Katie, 33, said "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplishing what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.”
The former Dawson’s Creek actress seems to be settling into life as a single mum, enjoying a night out on the town recently. If leather trousers don’t say ‘I’m ok!’ – we’re not sure what does.
