Ladies and gents, grab your perfume/false eyelashes/smart shoes/fancy hat, because two new hot Hollywood types are officially back on the market. Yep, Katy Perry and Russell Brand are now both single, after their divorce was finalised today.
Under Californian law (that’s where Russell filed the papers), a couple can only be officially divorced at least six months after they have split. The papers, citing “irreconcilable differences” were filed on 30 December 2011, and, after an extra little delay, have now been fully processed and stamped and ticked and whatever else is needed to make a divorce totally legit.
However, break-ups aren’t all that tidy and organised, and Russell has revealed he still has feelings for his ex-wife. He recently told Ellen DeGeneres on her chat show: “I still love [Katy] as a human being. But, sometimes when you’re in a relationship I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything.”
Katy’s still reeling from the break-up, and her film Part Of Me showed just how badly she felt about the breakdown of their 14-month marriage. She told the cameras: "Being in love is a dream, but the reality is not like the movies. There's a lot more compromise and sacrifice”.
He "ain't" seen her film
In other news, Russell told BBC Newsbeat earlier today that he has not been to see Katy’s film, even though he features in it!
When asked if he’d watched the 3D documentary, he replied: "No I ain't. I haven't even seen Hunger Games yet."
We wonder which one he will end up watching first when he gets round to a good DVD sesh?
Anyway, we hope these two can move on happily from each other…
