One Direction: 'We want more male fans'

You’d think screaming young (and old) women would be every boy band’s dream situation, but earlier we told you how Harry Styles became a little tetchy at being mobbed outside his parents' house - and now, One Direction’s Niall Horan, has admitted the group would like to see a few more fellas in the crowd from now on.

The blondie told Tumblr blog, Storyboard, “We want to see more boy fans, as seeing them in the crowd is cool. It's 90% girls, but we want to expand our fanbase. We want all people to like us."

Chatting about their current fanbase, Liam continued, “It's very flattering obviously as we can see how much they care for us.

"We just hope they're crying tears of joy! None of us could obviously ever have imagined this just two years ago. I don't think anyone could have seen this coming to be honest.

"I don't think there is anything hard about having such a dedicated fanbase. It is actually great to know that there are people out there that love what we do since we put so much hard work into it."

Bless!

Still it looks like the boys could be serious about trying to drum up a large male following – and are putting musical plans in motion to attract the man-market out there.

Just last week, US soft-rockers Boyce Avenue let slip that they will be meeting the group to discuss song ideas, with lead singer Daniel Manzano admitting that he wanted to see “what they think of some ideas we’ve got for them”.

Seeing as the 1D boys are currently working on their second album, we could imagine a few rock tracks being on there.

We look forward to reviewing that one!
