Katie Holmes probably thought taking daughter Suri Cruise to a pet shop was a great idea. Who doesn’t love cooing over adorable fluffy little animals?
However, Katie’s plan to take her six-year-old to Citipup in New York and simply look at some huggable little puppies went a bit wrong when little Suri threw a strop after Katie refused to actually by Suri a puppy.
Pouting and crying
Suri set her heart on taking home a tiny, fuzzy black and white Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese cross puppy, but Katie – rather sensibly – refused to buy the pooch for Suri.
Crafty Suri tried all the tricks in the books to make her mum change her mind – there was pouting, and some big sad-looking eyes. Then she went down the ignoring route and refused to even look at Katie. Finally Suri stormed out and burst into floods of tears in the car on the way home.
Oh dear. Probably not the day of fun that Katie had in mind.
Mother and daughter days
Katie and Suri have enjoyed several outings in New York since the news of Katie’s split from Tom Cruise. So far they’ve gone out for ice cream, had a day trip to the zoo with Katie’s mum, stepped out for some toy shopping at FAO Schwarz, and Suri’s even had her face painted.

It’s also thought that Katie has enrolled Suri – who’ve previously been home-schooled – at a very posh Catholic school in New York. The Convent Of The Sacred Heart School costs £30,000 a year and requires girls to attend a weekly mass. Lady Gaga is was formerly a student there.
