You’d expect TOWIE’s newly-engaged Lucy Mecklenburgh to be jumping for joy, but since Mario Falcone popped the question something’s been a little off.
Could the reason for this be the rumours that Mario’s been cheating… AGAIN?
Despite sticking by her man, while former best friend Sam Faiers accuses him of being unfaithful, all the drama’s taking its toll on 20-year-old Lucy.
“I do want to get married, but I’m a bit scared,” Lucy told Closer magazine. “I’d happily say let’s get married in five years, but I don’t think that’s what Mario wants. I’m not ready for all the questions about the wedding and I don’t want to plan it.”
Lucy and Sam’s rift
Lucy and Sam in happier times
But will Sam be bridesmaid when the pair eventually tie the knot?
The rift between Sam and Lucy came to a head outside Lucy and Mario’s engagement party, when Sam – who hadn’t been invited – claimed Lucy had confided in her that Mario had been “messaging other girls again” and added there was “proof” on Twitter.
In retaliation, Mario said he’d heard rumours that Sam and her boyfriend Joey Essex had been unfaithful to one another – a claim they both deny.
“Sam’s my old friend, but I feel like she’s tarnished my engagement [by spreading rumours] and hasn’t said sorry.”
So it looks like Sam might be missing out on the hen party, but Lucy has asked another TOWIE girl - her good pal Lydia Bright - to be bridesmaid.
Once a cheat, always a cheat?
Lucy is standing by her man Mario, despite cheating rumours
This isn’t the first time Mario, 24, has been accused of contacting other women. In February, he and Lucy briefly split, after he admitted to sending flirty messages to other girls.
But a few days later, Lucy agreed to give him another chance. And, this time, she’s convinced the latest rumours are untrue.
“I’m genuinely really happy and I trust Mario,” she insists. “He’s with me every night, so I’m sure I’d know if he was having an affair! Unfortunately, being in the position we are in, rumours start that get out of control. But as long as we’re honest with each other, that’s all that matters.”
Despite not feeling ready marriage just yet, Lucy’s already thinking about kids.
“I would love to have kids. I’ve even got my baby names sorted,” she said.
“But I’m still young and have lots to enjoy, so there’s no rush.”
Wedding venue and guestlist
But she still hasn’t made any decisions on where or when the wedding will be.
“I’ve no idea when or where we’ll get married, as I’ve been so busy I’ve hardly had time to think about it,” Lucy said.
“As long as our family and friends are there, that’s the main thing.
So can we expect any celebs on the big day? Mario’s sister Giovanna’s married to McFly’s Tom Fletcher, so hopefully those boys will make an appearance…
“Because we’re both in the show, me and Mario have friends who are in the public eye, but that’s the only reason we’ll be inviting celebrities.”
That body
All right, we get it. You're hot
Lucy is one of the only TOWIE girls who hasn’t had plastic surgery. She explained that she maintains her size 8 figure by following a healthy diet and drinking plenty of metabolism-boosting green tea.
Lucy insists she would never have cosmetic or weight-loss surgery, but added: “I can see why some girls do it, but I would never mess with my face or anything like that. It’s risky and I wouldn’t do it.”
“Like any girl, there are days I’d like to change parts of my body – but, generally, I’m confident and happy with how I look.”
She added: “My favourite body part is my waist, as it’s 24 inches. My least favourite would be my legs – I used to get called ‘stumpy legs’ when I was younger because I’ve got a long body and short legs. I look ridiculous when I stand next to Lydia, as she’s so leggy.”
