They should still be basking in new baby glow, but it seems that instead Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton could be on the verge of splitting for good.
An impeccable source close to the couple tells heat that all is not well with the couple, who only welcomed daughter Dolly into the world in June.
“Alex and Chantelle’s relationship has been pushed to its absolute limit – a split could happen in the next few weeks, if not days,” they said.
The couple haven’t been spotted in public for more than two weeks. They enjoyed their first date night since the birth of Dolly last Sunday as they celebrated Alex’s 36th birthday.
Leaving Essex restaurant Smiths, the couple made a point of holding hands and putting on a very public display of affection in the back of their taxi.
The couple were on the rocks just weeks before Dolly was born after Chantelle – who had never seen Alex dressed as his female alter ego Roxanne - found a box of Roxanne’s clothes while unpacking at the couple’s new £600,000 home.
But after storming out, Chantelle returned to the Brentwood home they share and things had appeared to be back on track.
But another source confirmed that behind the scenes, it’s a different story.
The insider told us: “Things are incredibly up and down with them both at the moment and a split would not be a huge surprise.”
A representative for the couple declined to comment.
