While most celebs had a jolly good time at V Festival this weekend (see our gallery), Cher Lloyd’s fun was slightly dampened by some flying wee.
Let us explain…
Cher was performing at the Essex leg of the festival in Chelmsford when the rowdy crowd began to hurl bottles at the stage. Two songs in to her set and the 19-year-old Swagger Jagger singer was struck by a bottle and stormed off the stage.
After regaining her composure Cher came back on and confronted the audience, telling them,
“It's hard enough being up here, but it's not nice having bottles of piss chucked at you.”
This didn’t do anything to stop the crowd from throwing bottles onto the stage though – which is really quite mean (just go to another stage if you don’t like who’s performing) – and Cher finished her set early.
Cher later posted a message to her fans on Twitter, thanking them for their support
“Thank you so much for all the nice messages, shame that a couple of people had to ruin it, unfortunately a glass bottle got thrown at me on stage. Tomorrow is another day, big love to my brats!!! Xx.”
Cher has spoken out in the past about being regularly bullied online,
“I must get at least ten tweets a day saying I'm a dirty pikey. I think they know it's going to get to me, or because they know they can,” she has previously revealed.
“I never thought I could talk to anybody about it because I didn't feel I needed to as I was strong enough to get through it alone, but that's the worst thing you can do,” she has admitted.
We hope that Cher doesn’t let these bottle hurlers get her down for long.
