When you ask people what the best part of The Olympics was, some people may say Jessica Ennis winning her Gold medal, or Usain Bolt running quicker than the speed of sound… almost. But for us, TV presenter Clare Balding will forever be our London 2012 highlight.
And guess what – she only bleedin’ invented Mo Farah’s celebration move the ‘Mobot’, didn’t she?!
We hope you copyrighted that, Clare...
“I was on [Sky1 sports panel show] A League Of Their Own, and Mo Farah was on, and [host] James Corden was saying, ‘If you win, we need a special celebration,’” Clare told heat exclusively.
“So they asked our team and I said, ‘Do the M from YMCA.’ Well, James absolutely loved it, and then Mo tried it out and he liked it.
“It would have been nothing without the boys saying, ‘Yeah, that’s a good idea.’”
Clare said her proudest Olympic moment was watching super-speedy fella Usain doing the Mobot, as Mo did Usain’s trademark move the ‘Lightning Bolt’.
Clare's proudest Olympic moment
“The moment I’m proudest of was Usain Bolt doing the 'Mobot' to Mo! And I’m watching thinking, ‘I invented it!’
“Well, I didn’t invent it, the Village People did. But I am really proud of it.”
As you should be, Clare.
Clare’s other top Olympic moment
As well as the ‘Mobot’ moment, Clare said her other top moment from London 2012 was when the Team GB horses wowed the world.
“I was really pleased when Nick Skelton and the show jumping team won their Gold medal, as it’s been a long time, and the same with the dressage.”
