The recent divorce proceedings of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise seem to have left actor, Tom in a bad light. One celebrity ready to jump to the defence of the Mission Impossible star is the oh-so-swoon-worthy David Beckham.
In a recent interview, David revealed how the pair have become good friends after spending time together at press events and various outings, and went on to say that he really values their growing friendship. David says,
"Do I ride my bikes with Tom? Yeah I do. Have we become good friends over the years? Yes, we have become very good friends. It's not a big celebrity thing. It's just something that happened. And it's good to have friends like that"
David went on to commend Tom for being a great dad and a hard worker, continuing to say,
''He's a really good person. Tom is one of the hardest working people I know. He never stops. He's a great dad and he's got a great family behind him.''
We imagine the friendship might've undergone some strain when Victoria Beckham, who had formed a bond with Katie, reportedly became a confidante to the actress in the time leading up to her filing for divorce. A source reveals,
"Katie's seen how a normal marriage should function by being around Victoria and David Beckham, so she knew that something was wrong with her relationship with Tom...She and Victoria have been talking a lot. Posh has been trying not to take sides, but she has let Katie know she'll be there for her whatever she chooses to do."
