They already scored a major number one with his remix of Spectrum, and this time Calvin Harris and Florence + The Machine are onto another winner. Sweet Nothing is a banging uptempo track about being distracted by someone you fancy.
Florence sings: “And it’s hard to learn when you’re giving me such sweet nothings”, while Calvin busies himself with the production side of things
It’s catchier than a cold in a bleak February, and we have high hopes for its chart performance when it’s eventually released.
Just like the rest of the album, because Flo isn’t the only superstar that Calvin has collaborated with on 18 months. He’s also worked with Rihanna (for the second time after mega-hit We Found Love), Tinie Tempah, Kelis, Dizzee Rascal and Ellie Goulding.
Um…we need to hear this album already!
Unfortunately we have to wait until 29 October to hear the rest of it, unless we get any more sneak previews like this one. Sweet Nothing will be available to download from 14 October, but you can listen to it beforehand below AND the video’s already been filmed – Flo and Calvin tweeted about the filming of the promo last week. Calvin said: “Shooting the video for ‘Sweet Nothing’ with @flo_tweet right now! Exciting!!”
And Flo said: “Arrive at mysterious working mans club for start of ‘sweet nothing ‘vid, glad the queen is here to welcome me. No Prince Harry though :(. “
She wasn’t talking about the actual Queen – she is important, our Flo, but not important enough to get a state reception at a working men’s club. No, she meant a poster of the Queen that was on the wall outside the club!
