She’s managed to perform to crowds in Russia, where freedom of speech and self-expression from artists is seriously under threat following the entire Pussy Riot debacle.
She’s also managed to perform to audiences in the UK despite rubbish sound levels and a load of grumbling from would-be megafans after a less-than-perfect gig in Hyde Park. But performing in Australia was just a bit too much for Madonna to do.
In a Youtube message, she said: “I am really and truly sorry to have disappointed you and that’s something I don’t feel very good about.” “I know the last time I was on tour I missed Australia as well”
“And I can promise you in my heart of hearts that it was my intention to come again."
She added that the dealbreaker was her kids: “My children are my first priority and because they are older I can’t take them with me on the road everywhere. "
I really feel I would be an irresponsible parent if I didn’t stop my tour and spent time with them. My daughter is going to be leaving home soon.”
But Lourdes is only 15! That's a bit soon to be leaving home...excuses, excuses.

She added: “Please forgive me and know when I do come to Australia I will have made the wait worth your while and I will put on the greatest show on earth.”
Hmm. We’re not sure this is going to cut it with the fans who’ve spent up to $400 Australian dollars on tickets to see her.
