Very soon after telling her fans to"eat s*** and die", Nicki Minaj has caused another controversy after coming out in support of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
In a guest-rap on a Lil Wayne song, Nicki says: "I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney – you lazy b****es are f***ing up the economy."
Mitt Romney is the politician running against Barack Obama in the US's next election. Amongst other things, he wants to get rid of Obama's health care plans.
Up until now, it's been understood that Mitt's most powerful support comes from very rich people and Obama's comes from very cool Hollywood types - Oprah, Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye West, Eva Longoria to name a few.
So why did Nicki Minaj come out in support of Mitt? Well, one theory is that she's just singing in someone else's persona - she's a woman of many characters, that Nicki, and she's known to use them to say some pretty backward things.
Just like Eminem had Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers, Nicki has Roman Zolanski, Nicki Teresa, Rosa and Martha Zolanski (Roman's mum, obvs) and perhaps she raps the line as if it's said by one of them?
Another theory is that yes, she rapped it in her voice, in her persona, but she only did it for the attention - of course she didn't mean it!
One thing to factor in, as noticed by website Rap Dose, is that Kanye West - an avid supporter of Obama, produced the track. Would he really let his music be used by someone to shout out their support for Obama's rival?
A second thing to think about when weighing all this up is that Nicki once tweeted that Obama's healthcare plans - a bit like the NHS - should be even more NHS-y, something Mitt and his Republican pals can't stand: "Even with Obama Care, too much involved. Just give FREE health care to all. @barakobama What can we do?"
What do you think? She's certainly got our attention, all right.
