Ant and Dec: ‘We don’t pay attention to viewing figures’

They may be the benchmark by which TV shows are judges nowadays, but Ant and Dec claim they pay no attention to viewing figures.

The TV stalwarts denied rumours their game show Red or Black could be axed after ratings fell to just 3.9million people and said that after so many years in the business they don’t even worry about stories surrounding their shows.

Dec told us: “We don’t pay a lot of attention to it, especially that story as I think it’s pretty largely dreamt up.

“As far as Red or Black goes we’ve not had a conversation about it from here on in, so we tend not to take too much notice.”

For now the presenters say they are focussed on the 12th series of I’m a Celebrity…  and are confident it’ll be another great year for the show.

“We take it year-by-year and the last two series have probably been the strongest,” Dec told us. “You can never tell with the show because you can never plan for it, you’ve just got to react to what they all do.

“But it’s been going from strength-to-strength and so as long as it still does, we’ll keep going out there.”

It’s been reported today that the Geordie pair would love Chris Moyles and Tim Westwood to join the line-up this year, but Ant told heat the producers keep them in the dark about who is on the show… in case they tell everyone.

“We don’t know who’s coming,” he said. “They’ve found out in the past it was us that was big-mouthing, so they don’t tell us. We won’t really find out until we get here.”
