We’re not avid followers of Avril Lavigne’s life or career – some of her songs are catchy, we’ll admit. But we were all aghast when she got engaged to Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger seeimingly overnight.
They announced their engagement in late August, after only six months of secretive dating. Bizarrely, too, Chad hasn’t even met the parents of his bride-to-be, and that she hadn’t met his when he popped the question.
Chad told Canada’s Hello! that he’s nervous about meeting the in-laws: “I find that almost as terrifying as telling your parents you’re going to tie the knot.
“You just never know when someone is going to come out of the woodwork with a story…”
Avril added that she’s really excited, though: “Everyone is super stoked for us. The reaction from our friends and family has been awesome!”
He also told People magazine that he doesn’t really care about people’s interest in the odd couple: “I try not to take too much interest in the world’s opinion of our relationship. I just know the both of us are very happy…
“We think it’s very cool that our anniversary will always be on Canada Day. We can’t wait to start our life together.”
Chas is nervous about meeting the in-laws
He added: “She’ll come over and spend some time [with me] when she’s got time. They’re going to throw a lot of stuff on her plate with the new record.”
Avril was previously married for three years to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley, and recently went out with The Hills star Brody Jenner, brother-in-law to the grand Kardashian dynasty. Or should that be Klan?
They broke up in January, after two years of dating, and earlier this year Avril was photographed getting very touchy feely with another woman while on a beach holiday. Good luck to her and Chad!
