Britney Spears met her biggest fan on yesterday’s X Factor USA. Pat Ford previously auditioned for American Idol with Womanizer – where he was told by Randy Jackson to “stop singing forever” – but this time took to the stage to perform his rendition of Spears’ Circus.

Mad for Britney

The 20-year-old hopeful could barely contain his excitement at the prospect of meeting Britney and before his audition gave her the highest praise possible.

“I can’t believe I’m meeting Britney Spears – it’s like meeting God.”

We can only imagine Pat.

“As soon as I heard Britney was going to be a judge and I knew I would get the opportunity to stand in front of her and sing it was…fate.”

Patrick added that he thought Britney might be his long lost sister, before revealing he had even considered dressing up as her for his performance.

“I think she might be my sister. Do I look like her at all? I just need a blonde wig. Honestly, I thought about that, but I figured it would be too creepy”.

Maybe just a tad.

When asked what he would do if he won the competition, it was obvious that the cashier had played this senario out in his head more than once.

“I’d live in a nice-ass house, drive a nice-ass car, and have a nice-ass girlfriend named Britney Spears.”

Hang on – didn’t you just say you thought you were related?

In scenes reminiscent of Saturday’s UK X Factor and the hapless-in-love Jason Viet Tien declaring his love for "Tulisha", Patrick burst onto the stage bearing roses for the singer.

It’s quite endearing really.

End of the dream

Not one to sugar coat his words, Simon Cowell was quick to end the hopeful’s chances, both with Britney and with the compeition - getting rid of him as quickly as possible.

“It was like you had an argument with Britney, got drunk, and decided to scream the song at her”.

Ouch. At least you got to meet your idol, Pat
