Louis Walsh explains why he’s taking seven acts through on The X Factor

Louis Walsh is taking seven groups through to the judge’s houses stage of this year’s X Factor. After a turbulent weekend at Boot camp – all of the judges had their acts sorted – but after a last minute switch up, it seems that Louis just couldn't make up his mind. So it seems that he's is taking another act into the next round.

Sounds like someone really wants to win this year.

When six became seven

After the bootcamp stage, it was believed that Rough Copy, MK1, GMD3, Mitsotu, Poisonous Twins and Duke had got through to the next stage of the competition.

However, a problem with Rough Copy band member Kazeem Ajobe’s visa meant that the band could not go through to the next stage.

Left with a big hole to fill, Louis chose Triple J, who are now called Union J after adopting singer George Shelley into their group. The soloist left before the boot camp stage.

Along with them, he also chose Times Red to go over to Las Vegas.

This is very confusing.

Speaking out about the last minute change up – the 60-year-old admitted that he wanted to come out strong in the competition.

"When Rough Copy left, I found it difficult to choose between two groups to fill their place. In the end I invited boyband Triple J to come to Judges' Houses, but still felt that as I'd lost such a strong group in Rough Copy that I wanted to make sure the category was the best it could possibly be.”

However, Louis was careful not to miff off any of the other judges with his decision.

"I asked Gary, Nicole and Tulisa if they minded if I took a seventh act. They were happy as they felt they'd got the right six acts for their Judges' Houses trips so I asked Times Red to come along and they said yes."

Second chances

Speaking of their joy about being given another shot, Union J said that their new member George was a great addition to their group.

“We couldn’t believe it when we got the call about going to Judges Houses and of course we jumped at the chance. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. We’re so happy to be a four piece too. The group feels so right together, it feels like we’ve been together for years!”

Times Red went on to say that they were, “beyond excited about having a second chance.”

Let battle commence.
