Olly Murs: 'Nothing will ever happen with Caroline, we're BFFs'

It’s time. To face. The Music!
Yes, the XFactor live rounds start this weekend, and while we can barely contain ourselves, we’re almost as excited to see Olly Murs and Caroline Flack reunite for the live Xtra Factor shows too.
We caught up with Olly last week, when he spilled the beans on his relationship with Caroline, his favourite contestant and his upcoming book.

How do feel about staring in the Xtra Factor again, are you excited?

Yeah, I’m really excited. I’ve been, obviously busy this year, so I’ve missed a lot of the auditions and bootcamp and judges houses. You know I ‘ve obviously been a part of the show in different shapes and forms and I’ve gone and visited lots of the contestants when I’ve had time, so it’s been brilliant and I’m very much looking forward to it. I’m m counting down the days. I’ve really missed it this, so I’m looking forward to seeing the judges again and being involved in the show.

Have you met Nicole yet?

The only one I haven’t met is Nicole. But, obviously I met Nicole on the Xtra factor last year, she probably can’t remember who I am – I’ll just have to remind her, I was the one who hugged her for about 5 minutes.

Do you have a favourite on X Factor?

Well, I mean, obviously being part of the show we can’t have favourites. I’ve got to say Lucy’s got to be my favourite, just for the fact that’s she got a tattoo on her foot of me.

Did you miss Caroline while you were away, were you in touch during that time?

Yeah, we’ve been in touch a lot. She kept sending me pictures and saying that, ‘The Xtra Factor team, are missing you,’ and then she’d reply saying, ‘We’re not really missing you, we’re having so much fun with Jedward’. And there was JLS and Kian from Westlife. I actually tweeted her on the weekend when Kian was on the Xtra Factor and I said, ‘I can’t watch you with someone else, it upsets me’. I couldn’t watch her having fun on screen with someone else, it wasn’t right.

On the last series, X Factor last year, there was a lot of flirting going on between you and Caroline, did it ever go being flirting, did you ever manage to go on a date with her?

No, we never did actually. I mean obviously we played on it a lot, but you know when sometimes you meet someone and you just have a good chemistry. I’m sure this year will be no different, like we still flirt a lot anyway, like regardless. Umm but it never got to that point of us kissing, or dating, or going out with each other. And yeah of course, Harry [Styles] was dating her at the time anyway. But no, it was all good, we all got along and it never affected our relationship on Xtra Factor, which was a good thing.

Do you think you ever could be something between you?

No, not at all. We’re BBFs, we get on really well, we just have a laugh. It really isn’t any more than that, you know we just get on really really well and I’m always there for her if she needs me, if she ever has any problems or she’s upset. I mean, obviously, there’s always been tabloids and stuff written about her that she hasn’t liked, she’s always down to confide in me and ring me up if she needs someone to talk to. So we’re just really good mates, and I care a lot about her, you know if she’s upset then she’s always got someone to call if she needs.

Is it right you’re releasing a book later this year, an autobiography?

It’s not really a biography. I have to clear that up, everyone keeps saying it’s an autobiography, it’s not. It literally is just the last 5 or 6 years of my life, I mean, I had phone calls and emails for the last three years, every time a new year starts I get asked if I want to do a book and I’m like, ‘no, no, no, no, no.’ I’ve never really seen the point in doing one to be honest, but then this year, the book company came to me and spoke to me about doing one. I just wanted to do a book that was sort of like, me just before the  X Factor, and what my life was, and what I was going through and the changes that happened leading up to the X Factor and what actually happened in my life, talking about what happened since the X Factor and the stories I’ve got from that. So it’s not really an autobiography. It’s not from my birth and my youth, you know my school years and all that sort of stuff, it’s literally the case of the last five or six years because to be honest, probably the first 23 years of my life are the most boring. I don’t think people really want to read about what I did at school.

Any bombshells?

I dunno, you’d have to read it, I mean it’s definitely no 50 shades of Grey that’s for sure.
