Being five of the most lusted after boy band members on the planet pays – it pays in mountains and mountains of cash.
In the not-quite two years since One Direction formed and came third on the 2010 series of The X Factor they’ve managed to earn an incredible £100 million. *Tries not to feel sick at the thought of all that money.*
X Factor boss Simon Cowell and the execs at Sony are thought to have raked in even more, with earnings that have been estimated at £200 million. *Faints*
“Nothing had been left to chance by Sony Music, with the band’s hit album Up All Night selling over five million copies,” says Tom Bower in the updated version of his Simon Cowell Biography, as reported in The Mirror.

“The songs, publishing, discs, DVDs, merchandising and endorsements brought in huge profits, with the five members of the group together estimated to have earned nearly £100million. Naturally, Sony and Syco raked in much more.”
One Diection are huge all over the planet, and they’re set to earn even more in the coming year.
The boys have a huge 101-date world tour planned, which will taken in cities in Europe, North and Central America and Australasia in 2013. And they’ve also just signed a £11 million deal to become the global face of Pepsi.
All that not to mention best-selling, chart-topping CDs, books, DVDs and toys.

Olly Murs earns his first million!
Not winning The X Factor seems to be the key to success. The One Direction boys are rolling in it, while Olly Murs isn’t doing too badly for himself either.
The Sun’s had a sneaky peek at accounts for Olly’s company Stanley Entertainment and The X Factor runner up has earned himself a million.
“Olly is a real grafter – [he] has worked his socks off since he took part in The X Factor, so every penny is hard earned.”
We're now thinking about a career in pop music.
