We’ve got some very exciting news for all you One Direction fans out there.
The boys have announced that they’ll be taking over Radio 1 on Saturday 6 October.
Harry Styles’ best buddy and the new Radio 1 breakfast show host Nick Grimshaw confirmed the news, explaining that each of the five fellas will present their own show alongside a Radio 1 DJ to celebrate the station's Teen Awards, which take place the following day.
But the guys won’t just be there to sound pretty – they actually have to do some hard graft.
Each of the boys’ will have the responsibility of programming their own show and coming up with features.
Cripes…
But Nick, 28 did give them a small glimmer of hope, explaining that if his producer could do it, anyone could.
“They have to learn to produce and edit by next Saturday - if [my producer] Matt Fincham's done it, Niall Horan can do it too.”
Grimmy then phoned around the DJs involved in the takeover in the style of Simon Cowell's X Factor judging category announcements, with Huw Stephens saying: “In my head, you're on a sun lounger, and you've got Sinitta next to you wearing some leaves.”
God, we hope that's what actually happened...
Who’s with who
Grimmy
Liam Payne will join Gemma Cairney between 8am and 10am, while Nick will be joined by best pal Harry between 10am and 12pm, having joked that whoever ended up as his co-host would be “making my tea and going out for my lunch.”
You can’t make Harry do that, Grimmy!
Scott Mills will be accompanied by Zayn Malik between 12pm and 2pm, followed by Huw and his new co-presenter Niall Horan between 2pm and 4pm
Finally, Greg James will be joined by Louis Tomlinson between 4pm and 6pm.
Woo hoo!
