We’ve seen some famous male bromances in our time. Kanye West and Jay Z, Mark Wright and James Argent, Kirk Norcross and Frankie Cocozza. But there’s another bromance that’s so strong that it doesn’t even matter that one half of the duo isn’t even a celebrity.
We mean Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes, who have been close since they were kids. Bringing to mind what the late Princess Diana said about Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles’s affair, Nikki Wilkes, who is married to Jonathan, said: “There were always three of us in our relationship.”
Unlike Lady Diana, though, she didn’t mean it in a bad way, adding that they all get along: “We went everywhere together.”
Jonathan admitted, too, according to Sky News Australia, that the bond was so strong that Robbie was even mentioned in their wedding vows: “Even at our wedding, our vicar said: ‘Nikki, do you take Johnny and Robbie to be your lawful wedded husbands?!’”
“We went on tour together in 2006 which was just made, surreal and crazy. We had a ball and I got to see the world. “I took Nikki and Mickey – he was just 16 weeks old and he’d been to nine countries! It was amazing.”
However, there is now something of a split between Jonathan and Robbie – only geographical, mind, as Robbie now lives in LA with wife Ayda Field, who is expecting their first child. Thanks to modern technology (and being able to afford skyrocketing phone bills), the boys still stay in touch regularly, speaking on the phone.
