Compassionate comedian Russell Brand was yesterday seen offering a helping hand to a homeless man.
Russell was leaving a yoga class in Los Angeles when he came across the man, who was clearly down on his luck.
Russell chatted to the topless guy for a while, then the 37-year-old went to his Range Rover and got the him a bottle of water. When he’d had plenty to drink, Russell rushed back to his car to get him a T-shirt to protect him from the hot LA sun.
After giving the man plenty of words of wisdom, Russell offered the vulnerable man a lift, and he was overheard saying they were heading off to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
As a former heroin and sex addict and recovering alcoholic, Russell regularly attends both Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings.
He also claims Transcendental Meditation haws helped with his recovery.
Russell’s recovery

Despite being clean for over ten years, Russell still remembers how it felt when he was on drugs.
Russell filmed a documentary called Russell Brand: From Addiction to Recovery, which aired in August on BBC Three. On the show Russell said: “Heroin is a greedy drug, it'll take everything. First it'll take your money. Then it'll take your friends, your family, your car, your house.”
He also appeared before the UK government Home Affairs committee as part of an enquiry into drugs policy and said: “I don't think we need a carrot or a stick. Both of those things seem to be to be bizarre metaphors. I think what we need is love and compassion. Being arrested isn't a lesson, it's just an administrative blip.”
