Cheryl Cole is returning to X Factor this week and we are BESIDE ourselves with excitement.

Cheryl joins Gary Barlow at judge’s houses on Saturday night as he makes the final decision about who to take through to the live shows.

In this week’s heat magazine we spoke to Brad Shackleton and Kye Sones and have an exclusive look behind the scenes at what happened when the over 28s performed in front of Gary and Cheryl.

But Kye also gave us the inside scoop on what Cheryl was like as a guest mentor and how well her and Gary got on.

We were always taught it was rude to not too share, so we thought we’d let you know exactly what Kye told us…

'I stood there with my mouth open for 10 minutes'

“I was thinking who is it? We thought it was Simon Cowell, because one of the girls was convinced it was him, I had no idea. I was thinking people like Annie Lennox and then out walks Cheryl.

“I think I was stood there with my mouth open for about 10 minutes.

“Everyone was like, ‘Woah’, everyone was just really, really shocked and everyone went forward to give her a hug and I just stood there just staring at her in disbelief. She’s the most beautiful girl you’ve ever seen. She’s a knockout. I went and gave her a kiss and I haven’t washed my cheek since. There was a little bit of lipstick on it, so I thought, ‘I’ve got to keep that’.

“We had a little chat with her when we got out of the helicopter and she just said, ‘I’ve been on both sides of this, I’ve been where you are, I’ve been where Gary is, so I know exactly what you’re feeling and what you’re going through. Just be confident in yourself and do your best’.

“Then we had to go and get ourselves together. I was still getting over Cheryl. The Gary thing was wicked, I loved it, then I had to get over the Cheryl thing. Then we had to go and sing in front of them, which was amazing.

 

'I would've felt uncomfortable singing love songs to Robbie'

“I thought, ‘Wow’. The first audition I had to look at Rita Ora and that put me off cos she’s so fit and then the second one I get Cheryl. But I was really happy because I had a love song, so I could kind of sing to her. If it was Robbie Williams again I would’ve felt a bit uncomfortable – I’m sure Robbie would love it if I sang a love song to him!

“Cheryl sitting there just made it a hundred times better. She’s so calming.

“It was really nice, it was a real calming person to have there, because she is so cool, calm and collected and I think that’s what makes her so sexy as well.

“She was wicked, I don’t really remember what she said, but when I was performing she was nodding and smiling and there was a little sparkle in her eye, so it was just kind of vibing against that. She made everyone feel so much more at ease.

“Gary is an absolute legend. He was perfect. He just said, ‘Congratulations on getting this far, picture all the different reasons you’re here and impress me’. I think when you’ve had someone like Gary there you want to do even better, because you don’t want to let him down when he’s put you through from bootcamp. It was real kind of make-or-break thing.

'Cheryl and Gary's dynamic is perfect'

“The dynamic between Gary and Cheryl was perfect, it was absolutely perfect. I hope down the line she ends up doing more with Gary and the show, because they seemed to have a really good working relationship and it looks like they don’t even have to say anything, quite a few times when I was singing they would just look at each other and nod and it just seemed like they already knew what each other were thinking. There’s definitely a really strong bond there.”
