Anyone figured out what that One Direction appearance on Saturday’s X Factor was about yet?
Well we have a theory – One Direction were there to check out the up and coming competition in the form of District 3 and Union J.
We had a quick chat with the boys at the Radio 1 Teen Awards red carpet (see, that's us meeting them above... we're not sure why Niall looks like he's giving us evils) and asked them whether they were worried about the other X Factor boybands.
Harry told us: “I think we’re all different, they’ve obviously only just started and we kind of feel like we’ve just started too. I’m sure there’s room for everyone.”
The boys haven’t performed in the UK much recently, apart from their recent iTunes appearance and Liam Payne admitted they were having to acclimatise to the reactions of their UK fans again – well, at least we think that’s what he said. We couldn’t hear too much over all the screaming and singing.
“It’s been a long time until we’ve had to as well, this close, so we’re getting used to it again I suppose,” Liam told us.
The boys picked up three gongs at the awards, which was set up to honour teenage heroes, and Zayn Malik admitted the boys haven’t had the most normal teenage years recently.
“It’s been pretty crazy for the last couple of years, starting the band really young and we’re still young and having fun, so there’s not much to complain about really,” he said.
Still young and having fun… haven’t we heard that in a song somewhere?
