Last year, Rihanna caused a stir by going on the London Underground on the way to her gigs at the O2. About half of the people on the carriage actually recognised her, with the rest politely asking to pose with photos, to which the We Found Love singer happily obliged.
But things aren't so civilised in the old USA, and the fans aren't so frosty, as when hip hop royalty Jay Z got on the Subway in New York, he was promptly mobbed by hordes of fans.
As you can see in this video, of Jay taking the subway then walking around - in actual, broad, daylight - on the way to his Barclay's Centre gig, onlookers jostled to get towards him, hardly getting past the getting past the camera crews, police and bodyguards.
We can hardly make out what everyone here is saying, so the mind boggles as to how Jay put up with all the caterwauling. He's probably used to it by now!
