What do you get if you put Justin Bieber, Ryan Gosling, Avril Lavigne and Celine Dion in a room together? A family gathering.
No, your eyes do not deceive you. Let us explain. Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Ryan Gosling and Avril Lavigne are RELATED.
Oh I’m sorry, let us explain again. All four Canadian stars are related via two families from Quebec, Canada 400 years ago.
The eerie connection was discovered by genealogists at Ancestry.com, who were tracing Justin Bieber’s family history and told the Associated Press all about it.
A researcher at the family history website said: "It was a very pleasant surprise." Us too, Michelle Ercanback, a researcher with Ancestry.com, us too. "The great thing about family history is that you never know what you're going to find," she says.
We don’t know what to think. The history boffins worked this all out after tracking Justin Bieber’s family history and finding that he and 31-year-old Ryan Gosling are 11th cousins once removed.
They then discovered the pocket pop prince is 12th cousins with Avril Lavigne, 28, and he is also related to legendary warbler Celine, 44, by being 10th cousins three times removed. Justin, Ryan and Avril are all related to Mathurin Roy and Marguerite Bire, a couple born in France in the early 1600s who emigrated to Quebec, Canada.
And Celine is linked to the 18-year-old Girlfriend singer through common cousins Jacques Vezina and wife Marie Boisdon, also French emigres who died in Quebec in 1687.
Move over Kardashians and please, please, please let there be a reality show.
