Lady Gaga got in a right huff with Calvin Harris, all because he said he'd turned her down. When talking about his new album – namely, how he got big acts like Florence Welch and Rihanna to join him on his tracks – on BBC Breakfast, he was asked: “But you turned down Lady Gaga, didn’t you?”
The buffed up, tanned Scot responded, with about as much emotion as a cardboard box: “I was busy, though.”
When the presenter said “Too busy for Lady Gaga?”, Calvin responded: “You’ve gotta pick people whose songs or voice that you like”
Pretty harsh, right? So Lady Gaga went on Twitter to complain about his behaviour, saying: “never even emailed you @calvinharris I guess it's hard to believe I write + produce my music. cuz I'm a woman I don't know about EDM right?”
(EDM stands for Electronic Dance Music, which basically means all of the songs in the charts at the moment that make you want to go to a club or at least tell you to go to a club and dance on the floor)
Calvin Harris, looking about 20 times as sexy as he used to
However, Gaga perhaps acted too rashly, because Calvin had actually said more in the interview: “It was before she was very very big. They sent me some songs, I didn’t really like the songs and that’s ok”
Talking about how her management had emailed him, he added: “They didn’t send me any of the big songs, they were like ‘Can you work on all these album tracks, please? It’s just one of those things.”
When asked if he regretted it, he mentioned he was working with Dizzee Rascal at the time – as it was in 2008! When Lady Gaga was but a speck on the celebrity circuit, just another wackily-dressed pop star!
So it wasn’t that harsh at all, and Calvin responded to Gaga's tweet to say so: “no your label emailed me. I always make sure I say Im a fan when asked about it, I apologise if I offended u, wasn't the intention”
Which seemed to cheer old Gaga up a treat, as she replied: “thanks for the apology &explaining. My apologies too. Congratulations on your album. Wish you well. Cheers.”
Awwww. That’s nice! So maybe we WILL see a collaborationone of these days? We think that’d sound ace.
