You might have heard of Rihanna’s fashion programme. It’s called Styled To Rock, is hosted by designer Henry Holland and Nicola Roberts, and is a bit like The Apprentice meets America’s Next Top Model. Usually we’d assume that knew ALL of the ins and outs of Rihanna’s life, but we felt like reminding you about it because
1. Hardly anyone’s watched it, and
2. It’s being axed, precisely because of number 1.
The show, which aired on Sky Living and featured guests such as Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole and rapper Kanye West, was defended by a boss over at Sky in August, as it brought in 105,000 viewers on its best night. To put that in perspective, more people watched a QI repeat on Dave.
The boss said at the time: “It was trending on Twitter and Rihanna is the biggest star in the world.”
But maybe that star power just didn’t cross over into television, as a source has said that as well as ratings, it was difficult to get all the right people to appear, owing to pop stars’ hectic lifestyles: “Scheduling all these pop stars with our filming schedule was a nightmare.”
Nicola Roberts also featured on the show
Speaking to the Daily Mail, they added: “Rihanna’s diary was manic, and to be honest, after it struggled for viewers it was always going to be difficult to get her to agree to do another series.”
Oh dear. Were you one of the few who watched Rihanna’s Styled To Rock? Or is the first you’re hearing of it? Or are you just going to say you saw it, like old people do with Oasis at Knebworth?
