Taylor Swift has opened up about the meaning behind some of her lyrics. The I Knew You Were Trouble singer is known for penning songs that could be aimed, not so subtly, at some of her former famous boyfriends.
Definitely not getting back together…
Despite never before revealing who she is singing about, when talking about her latest hit, We Are Never Getting Back Together she hinted that it could a former musical beau that she was venting her wrath about.
"Hide away and find your peace of mind / With some indie record that's much cooler than mine."
Talking about the line, any subtle vibes were forgotten as the 22-year-old explained why she wrote the track.
“That was the most important line of the song. It was a relationship where I felt very critiqued and sub-par. He'd listen to this music that nobody had heard of ... but as soon as anyone else liked these bands, he'd drop them.”
“I couldn't understand why he would never say anything nice about the songs I wrote or the music I made.”
We wonder who this could be? John Mayer? Or Joe Jonas maybe? It couldn’t be Jake Gyllenhaal, could it? Maybe if we listen to the whole album we’ll work it out.
So much Teenage rage…
The country singer revealed that she doesn’t mind when people play guessing games with her songs however.
"It doesn't bother me when people try to deconstruct my songs - because at least they're looking at the lyrics, and paying attention to the way the story is told."
Every song is a story...
That is true Taylor. But we having a look through your discography, we wonder what we could take from these lyrics?
“So go and tell your friends that I'm obsessive and crazy
That's fine I'll tell mine that you're gay!”
Never cross Taylor Swift.
“No I ain't got a gun
No I never really been in a club
Still live with my parents but I'm still a thug”
Pennsylvania must be the new Bronx.
