I’m A Celeb star Helen Flanagan has spoken out after being criticised for posting an image of her holding a gun to her head as the world mourned the Sandy Hook massacre victims.
Helen tweeted the photo of herself in a black bra holding a gun and added the caption ‘Head f***’ during the first day of funerals for the 26 children and teachers who died after Adam Lanza opened fire at a school in Connecticut.
The I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here contestant, 22, later realised her error and deleted the picture – first taken in October - from Twitter, but the snap could still be seen on her Lockerz photo sharing page.
Helen has since written a series of emotional – and rambling - posts where she brands the criticism of her picture “completely cruel” and “bullying”.
She wrote: “I am absolutely disgusted in this. Completely cruel. I will absolutely NOT stand for this kind of bullying.
“Anyone who knows me knows I have the biggest heart.... I feel really chocked up that's so cruel.
“Honestly I've got tears streaming down my face how can you do that to someone over something so tragic #feelsick can't believe I woke up to that.
“I've just been crying to my bf before he left for work.... Now I am just absolutely livid. I am really worried about my mum :(“
While it seems likely that this was just an unfortunately timed lapse in judgment by Helen, we’re not so sure she should be playing the victim here. What do you think?
