X Factor winner James Arthur is just your ordinary regular guy, everybody. He is just like you, or me, or Matt Cardle. And because of that he had his credit card declined three times while out buying £700 worth of hats in the post-Christmas sales and then had to make a very sheepish phone call to his bank.
Yes, hats. As The Mirror reports, the Impossible star was out at the Stockton-on-Tees branch of Foot Asylum on Boxing Day because he'd had quite enough of eating Quality St. and playing Monopoly with his family, so instead decided to splash out on £771.74 worth of sportswear. But, uh, then his card was declined. Three times. Uh. Um. Awkward.
Those behind him in the queue watched as he sweated a little, made a panicked phone call to someone asking if they'd 'transferred the money to his account' yet, then had a brainwave and asked the shop manager if he could just have the stuff anyway and settle the bill later, presumably pointing to his face and mouthing "X Factor" and "sweet, sweet Simon Cowell money" as he did so. Anyway, the shop manager agreed.
Now if you'll excuse us, we're just going to don a James Arthur mask and get down to our nearest branch of Foot Asylum for some new trainers. BYE.
