Kanye West’s mate Rick Ross survives drive-by shooting

If you’ve watched the super-scary video for Kanye West’s Monster, you’ll have noticed a big-bearded man called Rick Ross. He’s a rapper (who named himself after a crack dealer, how cute!) who was the victim of an alleged drive-by shooting last night.

Celebrating his 37th birthday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, his Rolls Royce was found crashed into the front of a building. The car was “riddled” with bullets, according to various reports, but he and his female passenger emerged unharmed.

Local news station NBC Miami reported: “Fort Lauderdale Police are investigating after a shooting led to a Rolls Royce crashing into an apartment building Monday morning.”

“Police officials say shots were fired around 5am in the area of Southeast 15th Avenue and E. Las Olas Boulevard. The Rolls Royce was travelling eastbound on Las Olas when another vehicle opened fire on it.”

"When the Rolls tried to get away, it crashed into the building at 311 Southeast 15th Avenue. Neither of the two people inside were injured, police said. Police are still looking for the gunman or gunmen."

They added: "The names of the victims inside the Rolls weren't being released because they're in fear for their lives, police said. Witnesses said rapper Rick Ross was inside the Rolls."

We’re glad he’s safe… Rick isn’t the first rapper to be shot at – Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls were famously killed in similar incidents in the mid-90s.

Apart from the Kanye West guest-spot, Rick has collaborated with Usher, Lil Wayne, Jamie Foxx, Snoop Lion, Jennifer Hudson and Mariah Carey
