What do you think when someone says Glastonbury?
Here at heatworld we think of mud, wellies, mud, beer, mud… and of course the music. Artists like Radiohead, Kings Of Leon, Prodigy, The White Stripes… and Mariah Carey?
Wait – WHAT?!
Well, if rumours are to be believed, it is highly likely that all of these singers can claim to have performed at Glastonbury festival.
Yes, the glamorous and puppy-demanding Mariah could be joining you on the muddy fields in Somerset come summer 2013. According to a source, who told London’s Evening Standard newspaper: "Nothing has been signed yet, but discussions have been opened and both parties seem keen."
This seems to emphasise the changing direction of Glastonbury festivals, which in 2011 played host to Beyoncé and has previously had other pop stars such as Kylie Minogue, Lady GaGa and the Scissor Sisters take to the stage.
The festival took a break in 2012 so as not to clash with the London Olympics and to give the site a chance to recover from years of tent pegs and drunken dancing. But will it also be taking a permanent break from rock music?
Unlikely, since there are also strong rumours of The Rolling Stones and the Arctic Monkeys performing in 2013, so Mariah will simply provide a bit of diversity.
Personally, we’re just excited at the prospect of seeing Mariah wearing wellies. We imagine them to be high-heeled, diamante studded and fur lined - naturally.
