The Wanted are in turmoil this morning as it’s been announced Nathan Sykes has a haemorrhaging nodule on his vocal chord, and needs immediate surgery to be in with a chance of saving his voice.
The boys are supposed to be in the studio working on their next album and planning a world tour at the end of the year, but all plans have been put on hold as Nathan waits to see if his voice can be saved. And even if the operation is successful, he won’t be able to talk, let alone sing, for at least a month.
Naturally Nathan, who celebrates his 20th birthday tomorrow, and the band are worried because if the operation doesn’t work, his singing career is over.
A source said: “It’s not good at all. Nathan has battled with throat issues for a while but this is far more serious.
“After the once-over by the specialist, he was instructed to have almost immediate surgery. Naturally Nathan is really worried as if it doesn’t work, his career is over.
“The rest of the band are not only concerned about him but also about the group.
“It will be tricky to continue without him as vocals will have to be changed. All their worldwide commitments are having to be put on hold.”
Could this be the end of The Wanted?
