Poor Daniel Radcliffe – he thought he’d left his Harry Potter days well in the past when he embarked on his latest film.
Well, he did until a director tried to encourage him to think about using his, ahem, wand in a rather different way…
The 23-year-old has opened up about the saucier role he plays in Kill Your Darlings, admitting that he was encouraged to be a little more adventurous with some of his adult scenes.
“I was doing a gay sex scene and the director was giving step by step instructions.
“And the favourite note I have ever had was when we were kissing and the director shouted, ‘Not like that. Crazy sex kissing!’
“I spent 10 years in a kids’ franchise and that was definitely a moment of, ‘Yes, I think I’m moving on.’”
The 23-year-old went on to reveal that it wasn’t just the sex scenes he’s been struggling with since he left the Hogwarts franchise.
Speaking with Graham Norton, the actor explained that for his new play, The Cripple Of Innishmaan, he had to put on an Irish accent, which ended up being a little more trying than he first imagined.
“It was tricky and horribly intimidating thinking everyone is going to think it’s terrible…
“The first fifteen minutes of the first day I was just mumbling but at some point I just thought, ‘To hell with it, just go for it,’ and it’s been good ever since.”
Just like the kissing then, really?
