Well, Ant and Dec won’t be happy! Made in Chelsea have nabbed their first BAFTA award for Best Reality an Constructed Factual show, beating The Apprentice and I’m A Celeb!
Speaking to heat on the red carpet before the awards ceremony, Ant and Dec said that if they were to miss out on the award for I’m a Celeb, they’d rather lose to The Apprentice than Made in Chelsea as it is ‘more respectable’!
In fact, even the host of the BAFTAs, Graham Norton, will probably be fuming that they won. He said to press earlier in the week, “Made in Chelsea really is unwatchable. If you were in a restaurant, you would move tables so, why would you invite them into your home?” Awkward!!
Speaking after their win, Spencer Matthews said making the show was ‘draining and tiring but it was a pleasant surprise to win.’ Francis Boulle also added that he doesn’t think Made in Chelsea is better than TOWIE, but he thinks it’s the production on MIC that makes it as good as it is.
Francis told heat, “The show started as a social joke between their friends and family in Chelsea. Made in Chelsea is like a soap.” The director of the series assured us that MIC will not do a disastrous live episode (TOWIE live, anyone?) but said all of the cast would be up for a Made in Chelsea movie. Spencer even chipped in and said, “See you at the Oscars!”. Nothing like aiming high, eh?
