Carry You was a bit of a banger, but wasn’t very acoustic guitar-y – more moody crooning direct to camera, a lot of jumping around, a few plunky keyboards and some sort of noise made by a computer machine. George is very firmly ‘doing a Niall’ and holding a guitar to his chest throughout the new video, which makes us think that maybe – perhaps – the new single will see him strum a few strings. DETECTIVE MODE: ON.
So far, we haven’t yet seen Union J each reach to the sky in perfect unison, clasp their fists and pull them down to their crotches before stepping behind each other and switching positions in their four man line-up. Some cultures call this ‘dancing’.
But look. Jaymi and JJ are clearly doing that ‘put each fist in front of a pocket, lean gently at the hips and bob once from side-to-side’ move so beloved of boybands. Will we see Union J take a single step back and clap their hands? Will we see them do the ‘no thank you’ finger move while singing into a microphone? Will we see them tear their shirts open under the duress of an invisible wind? Judging by these pictures: totally, yes.
Just over George Shelley’s left shoulder. Not really feeling it, is she?
Wha– what you doing with your tongue there, dude?
JJ has clearly demanded that he and he alone has the tallest hair in the group. “Josh has those massive eyebrows,” he reportedly told industry bosses, when the band first broke onto The X Factor. “George has a guitar. The Other One has a load of tattoos and piercings. What have I got?” And they pulled from under the table a can of hairspray and a hairdryer and whispered, “this, JJ. You have this.”
Look how into it he is, in his little tiny leather jacket. Hit those notes, Josh! Show them what you got, buddy!
