Gary Barlow took a break from being The X Factor’s head judge (don’t tell Louis Walsh we said that) to spend some time with his old pal Aleksandr Orlov.
You know – the Compare The Meerkat fella.
Gazza spent the weekend in Manchester filming scenes for Compare The Meerkat’s new advertising campaign, which is set on the Corrie set, and will feature a number of the soap’s stars.
But before you start wondering why the Take That star would have spent his precious weekend doing this, let us just tell you he got paid a nice, big six-figure some to do it.
A source told The Sun: “Gary got asked a while back if he fancied being part of their new adverts.
“He thought it would be a great idea. It’s all a bit of fun and of course the giant pay cheque for a weekend’s work didn’t do any harm.
“There is no obvious link between the adverts and Gary. The ad will see him star alongside some of the Corrie regulars and the stuffed meerkats. Viewers will also get to hear him rattle out a tune.”
Gary was spotted by fans wearing running gear as scenes were shot near the Manchester Ship Canal.
On Saturday, when he tweeted that he was up north filming, we just assumed it was something to do with The X Factor.
“In Manchester filming today! Always nice to be back up north!”
And yesterday he added: “Still shooting away here in Manchester! They don’t appreciate I’ve missed Sunday brunch to be here!”
