Rough Copy’s Kaz Ajobe has admitted that it was his stylist girlfriend who inspired him to start the band. Yes, stylist girlfriend. Just a reminder of what Joey from Rough Copy wore on stage this weekend: football socks over leggings plus leather shorts plus hiking boots plus an oversized short-sleeved shirt plus a velvet bowtie. He went on TV like that! He wore that on TV! Not even for a joke!
Speaking to Closer this week, Kaz – who has long been credited for founding the Gary Barlow-mentored boyband – gave all props to his long-term girlfriend.
“We’ve been together for eight years and I really want to marry her, but I need the money first,” he told the mag. “I owe my life to my girlfriend. She’s the one that encouraged me to start the band – she suggested it.”
He then sadly adjusted his leather skirt and added: “And she’s our stylist, too.”
Meanwhile, bandmate Sterling Ramsey distanced himself from all those pesky in-prison-for-gang-related-murder cousins that he has knocking around.
“It’s sad that my family got brought into it,” he said. “I love my dad [who is also in prison] – he’s amazing. He’s a musician, too. It’s just a shame that my cousins have the Ramsey name – they’re not my family.”
