Marvel turn Zayn Malik into a comic book character

Zayn Malik must have been over the moon when he found out he’d been immortalised in comic book form by Marvel.

The One Direction star is a huge fan of comics – remember the Incredible Hulk cake fiancée Perrie Edwards got him for his birthday? Plus the comic-inspired tattoo he has of her?

Zayn’s moody stare and his cheek bones you could slice parmesan on have been captured in the new design for popular evil-fighter Ghost Rider.

The character was played by Nicholas Cage in the film version of the cartoon, but Marvel bosses decided they wanted to change things up and make the Ghost Rider more teen-friendly.

Well basing him on a member of 1D ought to do it…

Marvel editor Mark Paniccia briefed illustrator and creator Felipe Smith with the following breakdown, according to The Sun: “The guy from that boyband One Direction’s name is Zayn Malik. If you look him up on Google you can find a bunch of images of him.

“I was picturing Robbie as a beefier version of him. Physically strong, with a quiet, troubled expression, kind of boyish."

Now excuse us - we're off to the comic book store...
