Look, but don’t touch, was the theme of the Ocean’s Thirteen party last night held at the plush Le Bâoli restaurant at the other end of the Croisette down near Palm Beach and the helipad. George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and other Ocean’s stars enjoyed the balmy night air of a chic walled terrace and garden, which was separated from the non-VIP area by a large sheet of clear glass. Think animals in a zoo.
The other partygoers tried to pretend they were enjoying themselves spending their free chips on the roulette wheels, sipping mojitos and snacking on tasty canapés, but mostly they were making sweeps of the black-marble-floored room that just happened to take them on a trajectory sliding along the glass wall for some shameless star watching. Only after the “talent” had gone home, did the bouncers start letting people enjoy the outside air. Spoilsports.
