New facts about Heath’s death

It's been just over 24 hours since the tragic death of Heath Ledger and the facts are beginning to surface. What did the police really find? How did Heath really die? And were there illegal drugs found?

Firstly, to clear up the Mary-Kate Olsen connection... The masseuse who found Heath made two calls to Mary-Kate Olsen, a friend of Heath's, before calling 911. Police are emphasising that no illegal drugs were found in the apartment and that there were no obvious signs of suicide. Tests on a rolled-up $20 note found in the apartment showed no evidence that it had been used to handle drugs.

The housekeeper Teresa Solomon arrived at Heath's rented pad at 12.30pm on Tuesday and at approximately 1pm went into Ledger's bedroom to change a light bulb in an adjacent bathroom. She found him on the bed face down, with the sheet pulled up to his shoulders and heard him snoring. An hour and three quarters later, masseuse Diana Wolozin arrived for a scheduled appointment but when Heath still hadn't emerged at 3pm she tried to call him on his mobile. With no answer, she went into the bedroom, saw him lying in the bed, and started to set up her massage table. Wolozin then went to the bed and shook Heath to wake him up but got no response. Using Heath’s phone, she called Mary-Kate Olsen. According to authorities, she told Mary-Kate that Heath was unconscious – to which Mary-Kate responded by saying she would call some private security in New York, before hanging up.

Diana Wolozin then shook Heath again and with no response, called Mary-Kate again and said she would call 911, believing the situation was grave. Wolozin called 911 at 3.26pm to say Ledger was not breathing – the call happened less than 15 minutes since she had first seen him in bed. The 911 operator asked Ms Wolozin to try and revive Heath but her efforts were unsuccessful. The autopsy has returned inconclusive and further tests will now be carried out to shed further light on the actual cause of death. Results are expected in 9 days.
