US federal drug authorities are said to be investigating two doctors, one in California and one in Texas, regarding Heath Ledger's death on 22 January. The two doctors are thought to have supplied the actor with the prescription drugs Oxycontin and Vicodin, which the post-mortem found in the actor's system. The New York City medical examiner ruled that Ledger died of an accidental overdose of six prescriptions drugs, which are all used separately to treat anxiety and sleeplessness. Authorities are now trying to determine whether or not the drugs were prescribed legally. "It’s an ongoing investigation,” said a law enforcement source, "It’s not clear if there was any wrongdoing."
