Well, not quite. But she does play the 18th century equivalent of Diana – Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire – in her next film The Duchess. Keira is in period-flick overload at the moment, what with this movie (out in September), the WWII-set The Edge Of Love (out on 20 June), and a new big-screen version of musical My Fair Lady (just announced). In The Duchess, Keira’s character is trapped in a loveless marriage to rich aristocrat the Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes), while getting it on with young politician Charles Grey. Since Grey is played by the lovely Dominic Cooper, from The History Boys and TV’s Sense And Sensibility, these adulterous impulses are perfectly understandable.
