Never mind the Oscars, this is the film award we really care about. The Fidos are the awards that reward canine acting excellence, held each year in London, with a judging panel including critics from The Times newspaper and heat. And this year Best in World was scooped by Dolly (above, with her owner and yours truly*). The six-year-old Norfolk terrier was also named Comedy Canine for her role in St Trinian’s – playing Mr Darcy, the pooch belonging to headmistress Miss Frinton (Rupert Everett). The other prizes went to Samantha’s Yorkshire terrier in Sex And The City for RomCom Rover; Will Smith’s Alsatian Samantha in I Am Legend for Blockbuster Bowser; Fizz the Chihuahua, who is sat upon and killed by Jessica Biel in Easy Virtue, for Historical Hound; and finally the white dog who plays a pivotal role with Sean Penn in What Just Happened, for Mutt Moment.
