Still recovering from the sudden and tragic death of his teenage son Jett, actor John Travolta has, over the past few weeks, been at the centre of a blackmail plot. It is reported that the Grease star received a threat of blackmail shortly after the death of his son and immediately notified the authorities. Since then, a number of arrests have been made including a senator, a tourism minister and the paramedic who drove Travolta's son to the hospital in the Bahamas. Just yesterday the paramedic, Tarino Lightbourne, was formally charged with attempting to extort and conspiracy to extort. He allegedly attempted to extort $25million from the Travolta family, but has since pleaded not guilty. Additionally, the senator, Pleasant Bridgewater, was also arrested on charges of abetment to extort and conspiracy to extort, but has since been released on $40,000 bail. She has said she will fight the "untrue and unfair" charges. The tourism minister, however, was not charged, and he maintains that he's a long-term friend of the Travolta family and was trying his best to help them. We're not sure of all the murky details from this awful-sounding plot, but we certainly feel extremely sorry that the Travolta family are having to go through all this at such a terrible time. As soon as more details emerge, you'll be the first people we tell.
