It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. Yep, it's the annual festival of movies, parties and red-carpet glamour that is the Cannes Film Festival, which kicked off last night with the premiere of Pixar's new 3D animation Up. The film is about an old man and a boy who float off in a house powered by party balloons (yes, really), and Disney pulled out all the stops to replicate the house and balloons at its late-night bash on the beach of the swish Carlton Hotel. That's me in the photo (Heat's film editor Charles Gant) in case you thought it was some random bloke. The movie doesn't feature a particularly starry voice cast so it was a modest celeb count last night, but we did spot beautiful Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai (who is on the Cannes jury), Elizabeth Banks (Role Models) and Giovanni Ribisi (Lost In Translation). Plus, randomly, Sanjay from EastEnders (real name: Deepak Verma). Actually, not that random: he's here every year. It wouldn't be the same without him. Brad Pitt is arriving next week for the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's new movie – weird spelling alert – Inglourious Basterds. We're just a little bit excited.
