The arrival of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Cannes has injected a big dose of A-list glamour to the Film Festival here, with fans going wild for them on the red carpet last night. We were one of the very few lucky journalists invited to the party for Brad's movie Inglourious Basterds, where the pair joined director Quentin Tarantino and co-stars including Diane Kruger and Michael Fassbender (300, Hunger). As a fan of cult US TV show Freaks & Geeks, we were excited to have a long chat with actor Samm Levine, who is also in Inglourious Basterds. But the really big excitement for us was meeting Steven Gerrard, who is there to support his actor/writer friend Neil Fitzmaurice's new movie Charlie Noades, RIP. The Inglourious Basterds bash meant that we didn't make it to the other big Cannes party last night hosted by Paris Hilton and London's hip club Jalouse. Paris was there filming material for her feature documentary Paris, Not France, and according to our spy (OK, the Jalouse publicist, but we believe her), Paris "declared that she is ready to settle down with boyfriend Doug and when asked about babies said they would call their first child London… after her favourite city. She also said, 'I just love London, it's hot.'" A friend who attended said Paris was dancing all night with Doug and new best friend Lady Victoria Harvey, and were still going for it when they bailed at 4am. Oh dear, we so should have gone...
