Made almost two years ago and initially released very quietly at only a few cinemas, Cherrybomb very nearly didn’t make it to a theatre near us. However, thanks to an army of dedicated Rupert Grint fans, a petition was started and Cherrybomb is now at last getting the nationwide release it deserves. Starring Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley in Harry Potter, in case you’ve been living as a hermit in deepest darkest Peru for the past decade), Robert Sheehan (Misfits) and Kimberley Nixon (Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging), Cherrybomb is a simple tale about two friends trying to get the attention of the same girl. We’re not talking flowers and chocolates, though – this girl is only impressed by antics likely to be punctuated by a blue flashing light. Full of humour, drama, romance, nudity, drugs and a fortunately convincing Belfast accent from Rupert, is definitely worth putting on your list of films not to miss. The film is released on 23 April.
