Joaquin Phoenix apologised for his loopy anticss for the past two years, whilst filming I'm Still Here in an enlightening interview with David Letterman.
JP explained the rouse to DL: "You've interviewed many, many people and I assumed that you would know the difference between a character and a real person." Reckon he was insulting David's intelligence there?
"I apologise. I hope I didn't offend you in any way" added the freshly shaven and sheared Joaquin. The infamous interview is actually being used in Joaquin's 'mockumentary' I'm Still Here, and was ruoured to have been staged.
So, Letterman was sure to clear his name during the latest interview. "Did I know anything about this? Was there a script that you and I were working with?" he questioned Phoenix. To which the Walk The Line actor replied: "No."
Still, it hasn't been all car-crash-telly and YouTube hits for Letterman, his legal team attempted to source payment for using the clip of the notorious interview. However, they argued that they didn't need to pay a license fee as it was a documentary.
But hang on a minute, it was all staged, so not really a documentary? Perhaps, Letterman clocked on to it as well, as he quipped to Phoenix that he: "Owed him a million bucks."
Well, at least we have our handsome Joaquin Phoenix back and not a hairy, old tramp eh!?
